Satalia, formerly NPComplete, is a spinout from the Department of Computer Science which has developed a software environment which allows complex optimisation problems to be solved in a highly efficient manner.
Their AI-powered solutions can be used across media & marketing, transport & logistics, and workforce optimisation.
The company name, “Satalia” is a combination of “Sat” (which refers to Boolean satisfiability, a type of NP-complete problem), and “alia” from the Latin phrase “et alia” (often abbreviated to “et al”) meaning “and others”; it was coined by founder, Dr Daniel Hulme
The Satalia journey so far:
- 2008: the spinout was founded as NPComplete
- 2016: Company awarded the Gartner Cool Vendor in Data Science
2021: Satalia was sold to WPP
