Dr Schiazza has been supporting the delivery of projects both in the Biopharm and the Physical sciences field, ranging from cell and gene therapies for ocular diseases to waterproof coatings, to viral vectors.

Lorenzo holds a PhD in Advanced Therapeutics and Nanomedicines from the University of Nottingham, and focused on polymers for oral drug delivery. He joined the Project Management team in 2024. Read more about Dr Lorenzo Schiazza

Louise joined the UCL Ventures team having worked for the company in a consultancy capacity prior to this. As Director of Operations, Louise manages the Project Management team, Human Resources & Payroll, Information Technology, Estates Management and Admin. During her time at UCL Ventures, she has held the positions of Deputy Director of Finance and Head of Operations.

Louise has many years of experience in finance – joining UCL Ventures from the Finance Division of UCL.

Lucy has spent over 30 years working with mid-corporate businesses to accelerate their development and success by focusing on stakeholder and management development and succession. 

Her experience ranges from funding start up and early-stage manufacturing businesses in the North East through to mergers and disposals of international operations. The organisations she is currently engaged with include Holker Estates, Mobeus VCT plc, Cyberhawk Innovations and The Drinkaware Trust, the alcohol education charity.

She has chaired Port of Tyne since 2017 and is a member of the Maritime Skills Commission.  Her early career was in private equity, corporate development and headhunting with 3i plc, Courtaulds Textiles and Tyzack.  She is a former chair of the National Enterprise Research Centre, focused on the study of growth in private and family businesses and Northumbria University.

Lucy was educated at Oxford University and holds an MBA and an MSc in forensic psychology and criminology. She continues to chainsaw, scuba dive and ring church bells. Read more about Lucy Armstrong

Lucy is responsible for our digital marketing efforts, overseeing the company website and social media channels. Prior to joining UCL Ventures in 2017, she gained a BSc (Hons) degree in Business Management, as well as experience in marketing and PR-focused roles. Read more about Lucy Tuffin

Marina has specialised in the commercialisation of computer science and AI-based inventions and deep tech venture building since joining UCL Ventures in 2007. She headed straight into industry after graduating in Physics from Imperial College, enjoying a successful career in datacomms engineering and becoming Director of new product development at Verizon.

In 2010 she designed and developed E-lucid, a platform to enable online licensing of UCL’s intellectual property. E-lucid is now used by over 30 research institutions around the world and was spun out as a commercial business in 2023.

Marina was involved in the formation of many successful UCL spinouts including Satalia, Re:infer, 3DRepo, MatrixMill, Humanloop, Stanhope AI. Read more about Marina Santilli

Dr Fisher has management responsibility for the BioPharm patent portfolio and strategic business support for the BioPharm team. At the coalface, Mark manages the commercialisation of technology from the Institute of Ophthalmology and Moorfields Eye Hospital UCL Global Business School for Health and the Department of Ageing, Arthritis and Regenerative Medicine.

He holds a first degree in Industrial Biology and a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from UCL, in association with one of the first biotechnology companies to be established in the academic sector.

Mark brings more than 30 years of experience in life sciences and healthcare licensing, new company development and securing investment from both the public and private sectors to his team. To date, Mark has been responsible for the establishment of more than 25 new businesses in diagnostics, drug discovery, medical devices and therapeutics.

As a certified lead auditor of ISO 13485, Dr Fisher has additional experience in quality management systems and the translation of technologies from research and design into manufacture at home and abroad.

Mark is a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Management Consultants and gained the Freedom of the City of London in 2010 for his contribution to the economy through new business development. Read more about Dr. Mark Fisher

Michelle's responsibilities include managing the HR, payroll and pensions functions, together with payments and IR35 compliance. Prior to joining UCL Ventures in 2011, Michelle was the Payroll Manager for UCL.

She has a diploma in payroll management, is qualified as a workplace mediator and holds a CIPD Intermediate Diploma in human resources management. She is also an associate member of the CIPD and a full member of the CIPP. Read more about Michelle Huggins

With extensive experience in the UK Life Sciences sector, Narpal has delivered large-scale Knowledge Transfer Programmes as part of the Project Management team.

Throughout her career, Narpal has played a key role in connecting businesses with funding opportunities and strengthening partnerships between industry and academia.

Narpal joined us in 2024 and holds a BA (Hons) in Business Studies with a focus on Marketing from the University of Westminster, in addition to an APM Project Fundamentals Qualification and completion of the Management Development Programme from the Institute of Leadership and Management. Naseem is a commercial contracts lawyer with particular experience in technology transfer agreements and other IP matters at UCL Ventures. Prior to joining UCL Ventures, Naseem spent several years working in private practice before joining a private equity company and then, most recently, the commercial legal team of another London university.
