Eileen joined the business in 2004, bringing with her a strong foundation in retail management and a customer-focused approach. Over the years, she has built extensive experience supporting senior leadership, with a reputation for reliability, discretion, and meticulous attention to detail. In her role, she plays a central part in coordinating strategic priorities, managing complex schedules, and ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day operations.

Eileen is known for her proactive mindset and ability to build trusted relationships across the organisation.

Outside of work, Eileen enjoys travelling and exploring new cultures, along with spending time at live music events and the theatre. She also has a passion for discovering great places to eat, whether locally or further afield. Read more about Eileen McQuillan

Dr Barlow is part of the Physical Sciences & Engineering team, supporting the translation of academic research within the deep tech space into commercial opportunities. She works with UCL researchers to identify and develop innovative technologies, helping bring them closer to real-world application.

Eleanor holds a first-class MChem degree from the University of Liverpool, where her master’s research focused on the synthesis and characterisation of Porous Organic Cages (POCs) using both batch and flow approaches. During her degree, she worked in 3M’s Automotive Aftermarket Division, gaining experience in applied research and development. She recently completed her PhD within the Centre of Excellence in Long-acting Therapeutics, developing solid injectables of solid drug nanoparticles for long-acting drug delivery.

Elizabeth worked at KPMG and has broad financial experience ranging from audit to risk and investment management, before joining us in 2017. As well as being a qualified accountant, she holds the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment Diploma and has a BA (Hons) in French & German from Exeter University. Emma leads a team that delivers campaigns to drive growth, enhance reputation, and build strategic partnerships. She oversees marketing strategy across brand management, digital transformation, events, and engagement.

A Chartered Marketer with the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and holding a degree in Marketing, Emma has extensive experience in brand strategy, digital transformation, and stakeholder engagement across innovation, tech, and life sciences. She excels at turning complex ideas into clear, compelling narratives that resonate with diverse audiences. Her approach blends creative insight with data-driven strategy to achieve measurable results.

Faye transitioned from a varied role in primary education that included admissions, finance, and PA duties into the UCL Ventures team.

She now supports the finance team as an accounts assistant with a particular focus on purchasing, where her strong organisational skills and accuracy support efficient financial operations. Alongside her role, Faye is strengthening her technical capabilities through her AAT studies. Read more about Faye Redman

Gemma is responsible for leading workplace operations, facilities management, health and safety, and senior leadership support, while also developing and managing the administrative support function across the organisation.

With extensive management experience across multiple sectors, Gemma also plays a key role in supporting governance and leadership activity and ensuring the organisation is well supported. She joined us in 2013. Read more about Gemma Jackson

Hamish is part of the senior management team and lead the UCL Ventures legal team.

He has a strong commercial and university background, with over 20 years of experience in the life sciences sector. Hamish began his career at Slaughter and May, gaining corporate, IP, and commercial law experience.

He then worked at Oxford and Cambridge, supporting university spinouts and early-stage growth companies. He has worked at BTG Plc as a Senior Legal Adviser; Mundipharma as Principal European Legal Adviser, handling global in-licensing and commercial partnerships; Eli Lilly as General Counsel for Northern Europe; and lastly as Joint Venture Director and Head of Legal, EMEA, at Kyowa Kirin International. Hannah is a Senior Administrator with 10+ years’ experience in executive support and office operations. She is highly organised and proactive, with a passion for wellbeing and organising team events.

Dr Story joined us in 2019, covering the UCL School of Pharmacy, the Institute of Liver and Digestive Health, and the Centre for Rheumatology. She spent time co-representing the joint interests of UCL Ventures and Cancer Research UK as a cancer specialist, but is now solely a UCL Ventures employee.

Harriet joined us from Imperial Innovations, where she provided intellectual property and commercialisation services to four partner NHS Trusts: Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust.

Prior to her career in technology transfer, she worked on a drug discovery project at CRUK’s Therapeutic Discovery Labs (TDL, previously known as CRT) and completed her interdisciplinary PhD at UCL with applications in cancer imaging and treatment.
