UCL’s newest innovative Life Sciences spinouts will be a key part of London Life Sciences Week (LLSW); a gathering of venture capital investors which is expected to attract more than a thousand investors to over 70 events across the city from 16–21 November.

A highlight of the week will be the ‘Bench to Business London Showcase’, which will spotlight early-stage university spinouts as they pitch to a global audience of investors.

Several UCLB academic founders are set to take part in the event, which takes place at the London Life Sciences Pavilion, 180 Studios, on Wednesday, 19 November. Investors will hear from a range of exciting companies from all branches of life sciences, including Enacuity, Panda Surgical, Luna Therapeutics and NeurospeechAI.

Some of these are expected to be featured in MedCity’s ‘London Companies to Watch 2025’, details of which will be announced ahead of the event.

Dr. Anne Lane, CEO of UCLB, who will give a keynote address at the Bench To Business event, said: “London is fizzing with life science innovation, from AI-powered diagnostics to gene therapy and breakthrough cell treatments. It’s a life science powerhouse because we have world-class research, leading hospitals, cutting-edge laboratories, specialist investors, and global industry side-by-side in a diverse and vibrant city. The impact ripples across the nation, creating jobs and saving lives.

“But the magic happens when we bring everyone together, and that’s what we are doing at London Life Science Week. In the last five years, companies formed from UCL research have raised billions and created thousands of jobs; and I look forward to introducing the next generation of exciting spinouts at the showcase.”

According to data from Dealroom, the UK capital has attracted $2.1bn in VC investment so far in 2025 – more than 1.6 times the amount raised in 2024 ($1.3bn) and over triple the amount raised by Paris ($679m) this year.

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said: “Our city is home to over 2,700 life sciences companies and 19 of the top 20 global pharmaceutical companies. There is no doubt London is a front runner to become the new world capital of life sciences and innovation globally as we work together to build a better, more prosperous city for everyone.”

London Life Sciences Week in focus

London Life Sciences Week, launched by the BioIndustry Association (BIA), MedCity, and London & Partners, coincides with the Jefferies Global Healthcare Conference.

The event presents a chance to connect with more than 1,300 senior decision-makers from top life sciences companies and international investment firms. The programme features over 70 satellite events across Covent Garden, Aldwych, and Holborn.

Attendees can visit the new London Life Sciences Week Pavilion at 180 Studios on the Strand, where talks and networking sessions from Monday to Wednesday will help forge new connections and showcase the latest sector developments.

The week is hosted in association with Barclays (Diamond Supporter), LifeArc and Lilly (Gold Supporters), Browne Jacobson and Osborne Clarke (Silver Supporters), Boyds (Bronze Supporter), and Canary Wharf Group and Kadans (Drinks Reception Supporters).
