Trace Neuroscience launches with $101m funding
Series A funding and exclusive UCL licence will take forward potential therapeutic for motor neurone disease.
Today sees the launch of Trace Neuroscience, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company whose co-founders include Professor Pietro Fratta (UCL) and Professor Aaron Gitler (Stanford).
Trace Neuroscience licensed intellectual property exclusively from UCL as part of the company formation.
Trace is developing antisense oligonucleotides to restore production of a key protein called UNC13A, which characterises almost all cases of ALS (motor neuron disease).
The $101m financing was led by Third Rock Ventures and included participation from Atlas Venture, GV and RA Capital Management.
UCL Ventures supported the academic team, working closely to protect the intellectual property and facilitating the collaboration.
