Extreme weather creates major human and financial risks, but organisations can struggle to understand their exposure before an event occurs. Between 1970 and 2021, weather-, climate- and water-related disasters caused more than two million deaths and US$4.3 trillion in reported economic losses.

EuroTempest applies weather-modelling research from UCL’s Mullard Space Science Laboratory to help insurers, reinsurers and other organisations quantify and manage weather risk.

EuroTempest's journey so far

2007: established by UCL Ventures, Aon and RSA as a joint venture, commercialising Mullard Space Science Laboratory weather-modelling technology and expanding its quantitative weather-risk services for insurance, reinsurance and other weather-exposed organisations.
